Each year, The Caring Place distributes approximately 14,000 bags of food. This affects approximately 3,400 households in the Bradley County area. Simply put, we need your help!

If you are interested in organizing a food drive, please contact Sheila McElhaney  at sheila@thecaringplaceonline.org . She can provide you with information about food items needed and the timing of your event as The Caring Place utilizes an annual Adopt-a-Month calendar. It is important to schedule food drives not only during the holidays but also throughout the year. Summer is a difficult time for families whose children receive free or reduced-price meals during the school year. Also, a food drive can provide nutritious food while raising awareness of hunger issues in our community.

The Caring Place can provide printed materials needed to advertise the food drive and can provide food collection barrels. As an alternative, consider collecting food in cardboard boxes. Copy paper boxes that come filled with reams of paper are the perfect size. Once full, they are not too heavy to handle and they can be stacked in a corner or against the wall. Also, if at all possible, we request your help by using your own resources to collect and deliver your food to The Caring Place.
